The worst airport i have ever been to. If you have a flight arriving here, make sure your ride is at airport before you or else you will be forcefully kicked out of airport within 5 mins of you collecting your baggage. I would be just fine if i was kicked out when outside temps were 60-70F. But they kicked us out when temps were super close to 32F and there were snow piles outside. The worst experience in flying history. Also no flights came in after we were kicked out.
Also, I had to go through security twice - why?!! I went through security the first time before finding out about my flight being delayed and instead of allowing everyone to stay in the waiting lounge, they closed TSA and we were all forced to exit the space and told to return once TSA reopens - what is that?
I've been stuck here for the better part of my Saturday due to a delayed flight and there's nothing to do! I'm in the middle of nowhere NJ and it'd be nice if some amenities were offered to pass the time. The WiFi is shot and doesn't work, and the food situation is leaving much to be desired - there's a Sky Lounge with bar fare and a random outpost in the waiting lounge, and that's all!
This whole place is rather dated and could definitely benefit from a few enhancements. It is a good option outside of PHL for cheap flights since budget airlines fly out of here (Frontier and Allegiant), but seeing that I've had to shoot the breeze while waiting out my delay, more options to pass the time would be nice.
Easily accessible from Philly and Jersey. Pay parking or drop off in front. 1st floor check in etc. Then down elevator to boarding pass place. Very small. Walk out to board plane up ramp etc.
More convenient than the major airports if your destination is mid-Jersey. Airport is tiny. No creature comforts here, it's very utilitarian. No jetways. Baggage claim is a small belt in a trailer. One surprise is that the TSA line was longer than some major airports. All in all it works but it's not the lap of luxury if you're looking for that.
Outside is just a parking lot and grasslands. Disappointing.
I always flew out of Philadelphia International. This summer I did a lot of traveling and for my last trip I decided to save some cash and go with Frontier out of Trenton. I live in Willow Grove and no matter what time I drove to Philly I ran into traffic via I76 or 476 south to 95 north it didn't matter. My flight was 6am out of Trenton on a Tuesday so I left out about 4:15 am. Seemed like I was the only one on the road. I arrived at 4:40 and even stoped to get coffee before hitting the turnpike. I arrived in the parking lot and a bus was sitting at the gate waiting. I parked and the bus drove right to my vehicle and took me to the terminal that a healthy individual can easily walk to. Check in was quick and so was security. I was boarding at 5:30am with a zone 1. All staff and security were pleasant and professional. It's a big difference from the big airports. It's a little drab and no frills but who cares. You board from the runway so no tunnel. I flew in August so the weather was good. Flight was smooth and on time. Very nice experience for me and I would do it again.
I do appreciate the cheap parking though - $8/24 hours. My car, however, is parked in the boondocks in some random half paved slab of land a mile away from the airport...so there's that :[.
Ok so I can't blame the airport as much for my gripe as I am the airline, but overall TTN needs a good facelift.
Prices are great, fly to many destinations. No traffic, NO hassles.
